CRC/Transregio 227 - Ultrafast Spin Dynamics
Welcome to the Collaborative Research Center / Transregio 227: Berlin - Halle
The goal of our CRC/TRR 227 is to establish a fundamental understanding of ultrafast spin dynamics, thereby laying the foundations for spin-based information technology that can be operated at THz clock rates. Therefore, our first goal is to gather and develop detailed knowledge about spin dynamics and the concomitant couplings of electron, phonon, and spin degrees of freedom on ultrafast time scales spanning the range between 1 fs and 10 ps.
The DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center / Transregio 227 of Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) and Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) together with Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) and Universität Potsdam (UP) as well as non-university institutions Fritz-Haber-Institut (FHI), Max-Planck-Institut für Mikrostrukturphysik (MPI-MSP), Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), and Max-Born-Institut (MBI) has just started its second funding period in January 2022.
In total, 17 scientific projects headed by 28 principal investigators focus their research on Ultrafast Dynamics of Magnetic Order and Ultrafast Spin Currents. Spokesperson of the CRC/TRR 227 is Prof. Martin Weinelt (FU Berlin) with the vice spokesperson Prof. Georg Woltersdorf (MLU Halle).
